During treatment, your comfort should be a priority. A little planning can go a long way to help improve your treatment experience. Here are a few suggestions to help get you ready for infusion days:
Show up early so you don’t feel rushed
Eat a small meal
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
Dress comfortably in loose-fitting clothes
Write down any questions you may have for your care team
Here are some things to bring that may be useful on treatment days:
Identification/
insurance card
List of medications you are taking
Snacks in case you get hungry
Water bottle to help you stay hydrated
Lip balm, lotion, and hard candy to soothe dry skin and lips
Sweater or blanket in case you get cold
Things to keep you entertained, like reading materials, mobile devices (phone, laptop, tablet), and a charger for your devices
Be sure to notify your doctor if you experience any infusion reactions
Remember to schedule your next appointment before leaving the treatment center
If possible, take it easy for the rest of the day
Contact your healthcare provider right away if you develop any new or worsening signs or symptoms, or if you experience any infusion reactions
It can be helpful to write down any new changes or possible symptoms that come up after treatment.
