Before you get treatment, you may be overwhelmed with questions about unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) and IMFINZI + IMJUDO. Answering those questions is an important part of your journey toward getting treatment. Check out the frequently asked questions below, and remember, your doctor is the best resource for answering specific questions about your treatment.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a cancer that starts in the liver, which is called primary liver cancer. It’s the most common primary liver cancer in adults. HCC often does not show symptoms in the early stages. It is typically diagnosed in the later stages.
IMFINZI and IMJUDO is an immunotherapy-based treatment for adults with uHCC.
An immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that works with the immune system to find and attack cancer. IMFINZI and IMJUDO may cause the immune system to attack healthy cells.
The proteins PD-L1 and CTLA-4 hide cancer cells from your immune system. IMFINZI and IMJUDO team up to stop these proteins to help the immune system find and attack cancer cells. IMFINZI and IMJUDO may also affect healthy cells.
IMFINZI and IMJUDO are intravenous (IV) infusions that are given at your doctor’s office or an infusion center. For your first infusion, you’ll receive IMFINZI with one dose of IMJUDO. Then you’ll receive IMFINZI alone every 4 weeks.
The number of treatments will be determined by your doctor. They will monitor you regularly for possible side effects, and to see if IMFINZI is working to keep your cancer from growing or spreading. Your healthcare provider may also need to delay or completely stop treatment with IMFINZI if you have severe side effects.
While on IMFINZI + IMJUDO, you may experience side effects. This is because IMFINZI + IMJUDO can cause your immune system to attack normal organs and tissues and can affect the way they work. These problems can sometimes become serious or life-threatening and can lead to death.
Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away.
